The purpose of this web site is to connect “people with resources” to “people with needs” for their mutual benefit.

For the contributor, the benefit is to become personally engaged in a ministry to spread God’s word to the poor, using the spiritual and financial gifts that God has given you. We will open a private line of communication between you and the work you sponsor so that you can track the progress and impact of your contribution. We encourage you to stay engaged with the work you support.

The benefit to the receiving ministry is the means to sustain and extend God’s work and have the spiritual encouragement of partners across the world.

If you aim is to become personally engaged in ministry in Africa (whether you go there or not), we can help make that possible.

Community Building

Community Building

Community building is helping a community (a rural town, part of a slum, people of common need) work together to improve the common welfare.

The Group works with churches, community based organizations and non-governmental organizations to help communities help themselves to improve education, nutrition, safer water and a variety of basic needs.

Micro Finance

Micro Finance

Micro Finance is a growing part of the Group’s activities. Small loans are made to individuals and groups who present viable business plans. The average loan is between $70 and $100 and at little or no interest.

A key advantage of micro-loans is that one donation to these projects can help many people improve their lives as loan payments are used to finance additional loans.

The Group is starting slowly in this area, using our initial loans as learning exercises to develop our lending criteria and practices. Some groups

Education

Education

Education depends on more than bricks and mortar, school books and blackboards, teachers and students. Education also depends on things like good nutrition, access to light to study by, safe passage from home to school and back–for students and teachers alike.

In the West, we don’t even think about these things as vital to education because we assume that they will be present. This is not true in the slums and rural areas of East Africa. The schools we work with struggle to provide the basic needs of food and

Safer Water

Safer Water

Safe drinking water is the foundation of good health and nutrition. Much of the disease rampant in East Africa is waterborne.

The Group is working with the Engineering School at the University of Idaho to develop simple, inexpensive slow sand filters, pre-treated with a flocculant (the crushed seeds of the Moringa Olifera). Early progress has been encouraging and research continues. A ultra-violet light treatment process is also under study.

Water availability is also part of this effort. Rainfall catchment methods are under study to help capture as

Natural Medicines

Natural MedicinesIn poor countries around the world, modern health care and nutrition are only available to the rich. Even when modern medicines and medical practitioners are present in these countries, the poor do not have the resources to access them.

Health care, basic sanitation, and simple nutrition can be made available with relatively little education and resources. The effectiveness of more and more natural medicines have been scientifically validated. Many modern medicines come from medicinal herbs available in many areas of the globe. While natural medical techniques may

Simple Technology

Simple Technology

Modern technology is neither accessible or affordable by most people in East Africa. But many simple, accessible and affordable technologies are available that can help improve the lives of millions. Water filtration, rammed earth houses, cargo carrying tricycles, low-energy LED lamps are all examples of simple technology.

The Group is working to identify and validate the feasibility of these technologies. When those that are feasible, the Group works indigenous groups in East Africa to inform, train and fund the implementation of these technologies.
